As you probably know, various forms of artificial intelligence have been around for several decades. But the massive growth in computing power has allowed for the creation of ChatGPT that is revolutionizing – well – just about everything!
The introduction of ChatGPT in November (and ChatGPT 4 last month) has led to a proliferation of amazing new tools in every field and industry, with already over a billion users! ChatGPT and related Artificial Intelligence tools are evolving faster than the introduction of computing, faster than the introduction of cellphones or smart phones or any other technology in world history.
ChatGPT is using AI to evolve and teach itself – for example, creating new winning chess moves that no grand chess master had ever used! ChatGPT is taking over! HAL is obsolete!
Scared? You probably should be. I hope you’re also curious and will try out these new tools. Because they’re not going away, they’re fun to use, and no matter your field, they can probably save you enormous time AND make you more creative!
Examples of How I’ve Used ChatGPT
Here are just some of the ways I’ve personally used chat.openai.com:
- Asked ChatGPT 4 to give me a description of ChatGPT 4 — see the output text in this downloadable, which ChatGPT created in about 3 seconds!
- Drafted a 10,000-word book in a weekend!
- Asked for a children’s story about a friendly fire-breathing dragon who comes to visit my dogs and plays with them on the beach. Then I used Dall-E (an artificial intelligence art generator) to create images of that dragon playing with my dogs:
- Wrote the first draft of an emotional fundraising appeal for a client.
- Wrote a poem for my wife for her birthday this week in the style of Dr. Seuss (in a shorter time than I could type in my prompt).

Or simply Google “ChatGPT” and you’ll find zillions of additional resources!!
There are already customized versions of ChatGPT (and other AI software such as Melody or Dall-e) for writers, artists, medical folks, advertisers, website builders, scientists, musicians, and much more. Microsoft is adding ChatGPT to Bing and offering Microsoft Co-Pilot; Google is rolling out Bard. International competitors are coming from Chinese companies and many others. Fasten your seatbelt because it’s going to be a wild ride!
How are YOU Using ChatGPT or other AI tools?
I’d love to know.
